Absolutely beautiful, early Collings MF5 Deluxe with a rare, satin varnish finish! Even by the standards of a well-played-in, varnish Collings, this mandolin has a commanding voice, with an uncommonly open sound. A wonderful example of why we love Collings mandolins, it features a lovely one-piece back paired to a Red spruce top, with a bound pickguard, Waverly tuners and an engraved James tailpiece. Playability with the 1 3/16" wide nut option on this mandolin feels great. Condition is very good, with normal, light wear commensurate with a well loved, fifteen-year-old world-class mandolin.
