Default Film On Ebay Auction- 1960 Bowlback

This auction has a film of the instrument- a very helpful innovation which is available on the second photo. Has anyone seen this before? The mandolin is a circa 1960 East German or Czech instrument sold by Beare & Son of London.

Nice of the seller to show everything of this instrument plus a full complement of detailed still photos. All for a lowerend mandolin, but possibly a decent player. The polar opposite is the eBay seller whose starting bid is in the 4 or 5 figures but who uses a couple of low resolution cell phone pics and forgets to show the back.

This is not a bad deal. Nice pictures too.

I have not seen anything like it before and it really helped show the mandolin with such detail and clarity. In the end, it only made £50 but the buyer, I am sure had much more of an insight into its condition than would be given by photos alone as well as the free delivery! Yes, it might have a loose brace but its external condition left no questions that needed to be asked.

This is a curiosity, too, with the "The Michigan" nameplate.

I have a "The Michigan" labeled mandobanjolin that I was told came a Toronto outpost of the Beare & Son firm.

Though I wouldn't have a guess where it was made.
