Django overcame a mind numbing injury to play another day. But he didn't copy anyone, he developed a whole new genre of music still loved today, all around his "limitations". Maybe you could kick back a step and just get to know the mando bettter, try picking some stuff you know from the guitar. If you can play guitar and bass I'm confident you can find your way on the mando. Enjoy!

If all you can manage is single notes & double stops then you can play mandolin. Any genre.

    Keep at it, bro.

I get through a jam with two-finger chops all night long just fine.
Important thing is to get the gist of the chop, it‘s the articulation and timing, not the complete chord voicing that counts.
Or, As they say: the left hand shows what you know but the right hand shows who you are.

Don’t give up, have fun and never listen to people trying to sell you the ONE ONLY way to do things…
