According to the website it is Red Spruce, but not from the D-Log.
My mistake. You are correct. Regardless his page says yours is 1/4 sawn hard sugar maple with a red spruce top. It doesn’t have “D” in parenthesis which indicates D-Log. However, in my experience it doesn’t matter if it is D-Log or not. Steve Gilchrist doesn’t use bad wood and some of the instruments (many) that are not D-log sound better than many that are D-Log.
I think the key to the D log was that Gilchrist bought a lot of it and got to know it really well.

Thanks men for the info.
Best..............
I own one in this batch and asked Mr. Gilchrist why all the light Cremona bursts all of a sudden and this was his reply:
“I recall that whole batch was hard sugar maple that came from Wisconsin, mostly quarter cut and very clean. I think that's why the lighter burst choice.
I have come across a couple in that batch that have matured in tone very well.”
So, I lovingly refer to it as the “cheese” log
He used to have a “W” next to most in this batch in the serial number list, but changed it to 1/4 at some point in the last year, or so.
Astonishing looking maple in that batch!
