Thread: New (to me!) Mandola Day! (New Blues Hardware)

Default New (to me!) Mandola Day! (New Blues Hardware)

I *love* mandola. I'm lucky in that I have particular tastes (oval hole, mostly flat top) which have few options, keeping any aquisition syndrome in check. I have Flatirons from across the eras, pancake mandolins dropped to mandola tuning, a few McNally Ukulele Strumsticks tuned as mandolas for travel, and even a few CGDA-tuned resonator tenor guitars.

    And then this happened.

Getting permission from the Household Budgeting Authority, payment was made. Now the waiting begins.

I've read good things about Tom Sheehy's work. Anyone elsehave first-hand experience with Blues Hardware?

I'm really excited about this! I can hardly wait!

Sorry for lack of pictures... the Cafe wouldn't upload them....)
    ----

Playing a funky oval-hole scroll-body mandolin, several mandolins retuned to CGDA, three CGDA-tuned Flatiron mandolas, two Flatiron mandolas tuned as octave mandolins, and a six-course 25.5" scale CGDAEB-tuned Ovation Mandophone.

Man, that’s a beaut, and I’ll bet it adds joy to your journey; I certainly hope it does! I know I have some great instruments, and I’m always so psyched to get the next one - that instrument is lovely - in addition to the overall beauty, I particularly like that you have the F style strap hanger, done on an A shape with only a skeleton of the F shape for strap options - because, for me anyway, that’s a distinction - you can do anything you want with that setup! That is a really cool way to address one of the things I miss with a typical A shape. It’s a really neat look - I hope it sounds and plays as good as it looks for you!!!

    Congratulations.

Looks great and the sound clips sounded really good too. I especially liked the second sound clip. Really nice tone. Enjoy and let us know how you like it!
