Good luck in your search for a teacher. I fled the O.C. in the 70's for Kentucky where Bluegrass was born. Finding a teacher here was also a problem. Go figure. You may want to investigate some of the online options such as Artist Works or Peghead Nation. Good luck ... R/
I love hanging out with mandolin nerds . . . . . Thanks peeps ...
Evan Anderson is a great teacher and may still be in the Orange County vicinity. He was with the Bluegrass band Wild Oats many years ago and later with The Andy Rau Band. I'm sorry that I do not have his contact information.
There's a band called the Story Tellers playing at Hanger 24 on 12/11 (https://www.facebook.com/events/522052043113926) - I would suggest going there and talking with them as a start. They don't have a mandolin player - but might be able to help.
If not, how far would you be willing to travel? I know some great players in LA, Poway, and San Diego areas - but that's likely a 1 - 1.5hr oneway trip for ya.
Have you checked out the any of the local jams? If not, here's one https://www.meetup.com/bluegrass-125...GRUCNaQnFLqb5P They'll have more local folks that might be able to help point you in the right direction if nothing else.
