For years I have been having recurrent bouts of pain and discomfort on my right wrist and forearm. Both carpal tunnel (thumb side) and cubital tunnel (pinky side). Typically they are mild, and I'd like to keep them that way.

As I only recently picked up the mandolin, I am looking to learn a right-hand setup that won't put too much stress on right elbow and forearm (to be clear, I play with a pick). I figured up a couple of tricks by trial-and-error. For example, I keep my pinky straight rather than curled, which seems to relieve some of the tension, and I keep the mandolin relatively low to avoid folding the elbow at an awkward angle. But I wonder if anyone in the same situation as me has any other tips.
