Default Tapastring vintage Jack and internal K&K pickup

    Hello fellow cafe dwellers,

I was hoping someone might be able to help with advice from experience. I'm looking to install a pickup in one of my mandolins, but don't want to drill a larger end pin hole, in case I wish to remove it at a later date. I was looking at the Tapastring vintage mandolin end pin jack:

I was wondering, does anyone have any experience with using one of these vintage jacks and an internal K&K twin pickup? Is it easy to switch out the 1/4" inch jack on the K&K for the smaller vintage jack?

Any advice will be greatly received.

    S.

I have used the Tapastring several times, always with K&K pickups. If you can solder you can easily change from 1/4" to the Tapastring. If you don't solder much do some practicing. I gig with mine and have for many years with no problems. I usually have to ream the hole out ever so slightly to fit the Tapastring tho.
