    I know why I was confused. There was a group years ago called the Old Hat Band who was strictly old time music. Here’s and old record:

    Yes, I believe so. John Burke was in the band. IIRC there were two John Burkes, one banjoist and the other a fiddler.

    Actually I have found multiple bands using "old hat" one in Texas and one in the UK. The one in the OP is in Maine.
