    Default Pony Boy—Colin Botts

This is not an old tune, but I hope it fits in this forum. I think it does. I am fortunate to be friends with Colin, and he sends me links to his YouTube videos. Here’s his latest:

Since you posted his version of Banks Hornpipe, I have been watching his videos which he is putting up on his Facebook page every day. I think he's terrific.
Thanks for bringing him to our attention.

Thanks for that, David. Your endorsement counts for a lot. I think Colin is a near genius, and it’s an honor to bring him around to our group. He does have a day job and four kids. It amazes me how he gets these tunes out so frequently!

Hi David, I'm happy to hear you are enjoying those videos. To be honest, I've been uploading them mostly for Mike, but I'm happy to hear there are others that also appreciate them. Thanks for listening!

I too have been enjoying Colin's playing since being made aware of it here on the MC site. He has such a relaxed delivery and a great feel for both the instrument and the tunes.

I love that tune, and Colin's take on it.

I can’t get the A part of this tune for nothin. Going to have to do it note by note, I guess. The first four bars are straightforward and logical, but then it seems to just kind of wander and the section seems to be 9 bars long. I think the kind of indefinite nature of the A section highlights the hooky B section, but it sure doesn’t make it easy to learn.

    Never mind- got it!

Thanks Colin. That extra bar on the first A gave me much more trouble than it should have.
