The notes are there now loosen that wrist so you can get that pick whipping the strings with some power. That’ll add that extra little bit of growl the tune needs����

Learning by ear can be a challenge and it’s very rewarding when you hear the melody first come together, so bravo to that! I think we tend to focus a lot on getting the right sequence of notes when learning a new tune and timing can suffer as a result. I noticed at times that you would rush into the next phrase. If you play along to a backing track or along with a slowed down version of the source recording you learned from, you will be able to notice when this happens and from there be able to correct it. Playing alone, especially something new, can be challenging because we don’t have anything else to listen to as a reference.

I had to pay attention when I played and anytime my wrist locked I’d have to stop and correct it. Also, instead of “picking” the notes try to play through them on a arc, some call this escape motion.
