Smile Gibson Model Designations' (Very) Loose Connection to Cat Genes..

Just a silly bit of trivia:

Your cat's FGF5, or "long hair" gene determines cat fur length. The dominant form codes for long fur, and the recessive form codes for short fur.

This tracks. I read once that the 'F' in F5 actually stands for 'feline' (the scroll being meant to evoke the curl of a cat's tail). Whereas the '5' in F5 is the number of seconds in a cat's life that it even notices that you exist.

This is true if you overfeed your cat. Cut back the rations to the vet-recommended diet and it'll give you all kinds of attention ... starting about an hour before dinnertime.

I think the 5 may refer to the number of inches left for you on the bed once the cat gets comfortable ... regardless of how big the bed is.

Actually, the 5 refers to the minimum number of cats one should have at any given time.

Cats and mandolins both sleep happily in form fitting cases. Restringing your mandolin and trimming your cat's claws both often end with you bloody.
