Default What genre would you place this tune in?

Very curious, as I can't really - from my guitar experience, anyway - decide what genre this would fit. Love the playing though. Would like to explore things like that once I get my ten BG songs down for jamming.

You could ask the guy that wrote it.

Forty years ago George Winston would have called it 'New Age'.

The guy you have been listening to set himself the task of playing 100 tunes in 100 days over the past few months in the Videos, Pictures and Sound Files section of the forum here and I would think that perhaps he was not particularly categorising his pieces - look at the very idiosyncratic titles he has given many of them. Maybe settle on just calling it an original tune?

"Original", "Non-Trad", "Free Form", "Free verse", "World Music", "Noodling", "Relaxation Sound Scapes" etc..??

I haven't listened to all 100 videos but from his explanation of the project I don't think he intended to play within any established recognizable genres. He was improvising from scratch on each take. He mentions that he thought one of the "creations" came out sounding sort of dawg-ish. That was likely the result of his being influenced by dawg music and also perhaps by chance. I think this was a neat project and I'm sure he could mine some gold out of those takes if he ever desires to do so

Maybe not a genre, but I would describe it as improvised, free-rhythm, solo instrumental.

I kinda stumbled on to the video and just really like that tune. It's easy to categorize jazz, blues, BG, Irish, and classical. But this was different. Really like it, though.
