From what I can tell it never really sounded the same after its trashing and the reconstruction by Derrington. No fault of Charlie's... he certainly made the best of a very bad situation. The videos of Monroe playing before and after "the incident" tell the story...
I think Monroe was just happy to have it back in one-piece and playable.

Well, looking at the bottom of your post…. Probably not as good as your Red Diamond and Gilchrist.
It also featured in Phil Cunningham’s TV “tryptich - “Wayfaring Stranger” but, for some reason, it’s relevance was never explained.
