    Default Strad-O-Lin 2-point on ebay

A bit beat up but looks like it’s apparently in playable condition. Looks like it even has the original pickguard. Seems like a really cool instrument to me!

The pickguard and tailpiece cover are indeed original.

Looks to be a contemporary of my newer one. Same material for pickguard and tailpiece cover, same point on end of fingerboard (and possibly same turned aluminum dot markers) and same model tuners.

Maybe a naive question: Any way to tell if the back is solid or laminate?

If you look at it from the side, you should be able to see any layers of the laminate. Easier to see when the painted binding is chipped. Or there is no binding at all.

Looking at this one, it appears to be laminate.

Wow. $375. And one went for $150 not that long ago.

Maybe because of the chatter here on the Cafe.

As an opinion here - even $375 is reasonable IMO. If one looks at the older discussions here it wasn't too long ago that SOL instruments were selling for closer to $500. Now, that seems to be the the high end of the spectrum. Except for maybe the highest quality models.

I don’t think it was the Cafe chatter, the starting bid was $300 and it had a bid before I posted it.

It's not that the price of a Stradolin is going up, as much as it is the value of the dollar is going down.

    How much is gasoline, today?

I think also there is the chance that occasionally you may get a bargain if you follow your search regularly, and it ends on a day when your competition is doing something else. Plus, there is a smaller fan base for SOL's than, let's say, Les Paul's or Strat's...

Very true. Probably less than a couple dozen folks who take serious interest in the brand these days.
