Default Republic Guitars has a few Highway 49 reso tenors in stock!

No financial interest on my part, but...

...Republic has a few of their Highway 49 resonator tenor guitars in stock.

The scale length is 22.5", so it can accomodate both CGDA and GDAE octave mandolin tuning.

I tried to pull the trigger just after the last batch sold out. I signed up for notifications so long ago that I forgot, and managed to score two since then.

They sound AMAZING. Not metallic, and I've had more than one person express surprise when they finally saw it after first hearing it. Mine also both play really well, with great set-ups when I received each. I now keep both in octave GDAE, and the more mojo-ed one gets constant use.

Anyway, I just got my notification, and figured I'd pass it on in case anyone was interested!

I had one a number of years ago and liked it a lot. Very different sounding from my National Triolian and a lot heavier. Glad to see that they are available again.

One left of the polished nickel, looking at the page I linked to.

Apparently some have sold since I first got the notice, which doesn't surprise me. I'm totally happy I scored my polished chromes, and even then I was considering getting one of the antique steel finished ones as a less pretty knock-around to preserve the chromes.

I am pleased with it...well built, loud and pretty.
I like the round neck shape and string spacing at the nut is good but I don't care for the spacing at the saddle. I removed the saddle from the biscuit and made a new one with some additional spacing and I am really enjoying it now. It doesn't take much.
As was already said, it's a little heavy.
I saved the embroidered Republic badge from the included soft case and then discarded it. The "little Martin" hard case from Elderly fits perfectly.
