Default 1991 Washburn Country of origin?

I picked up this Washburn M-1STS mandolin at a yard sale today, complete with it's hardshell case for $50. The guy I bought it from says that he bought it new, but quickly lost interest, so it's been sitting in it case for 30 years. Fortunately, the neck is nice and straight. It has a solid top and just one brace right down the center.
There's nothing on the interior label that says where it was built. Does anybody know where these were being built in '91? Korea? Japan? China?Click image for larger version.

If the instrument was made in 1991, it was most likely built in Korea. Japanese production was earlier, and Chinese [and/or Indonesian] production didn't begin until much later.
