    Default FON 1917(??) Gibson A-0

I recently purchased what was advertised as a 1917 Gibson A-0. The label is badly faded and I really can't make out a serial number. There is what I assume is a factory order number stamped on the left side of the neck block(I guess that's what it's called). It looks to me like the number is 11007, but thought I'd try to get other peoples' opinions, if I can figure out how to post the picture I took of it. I did look up that FON and it looksl like it could be a 1917 or maybe a 1916. (http://www.mandolinarchive.com/perl/list_mandolins.pl) Hoping I can successfully post a picture, I'd appreciate feedback as to what the number looks like to anyone else. Thanks!

The A0 wasn't introduced until 1928. Recorded mandolin FONs from 1925–31 start at 8004 and go up to 9988.

    11007 is indeed a 1917 FON.

What's the finish color on your mandolin?

11007 is a FON for a batch of regular A models from 1917, per Spann's guide.

If it has binding on the top, then it's probably a regular A.

    Thanks, Eric
It for sure is just a plain A.
