Sad news, indeed, and on Bob Dylan's birthday.

And sadder still, for us'ns hereabouts, no mandolin content in her music, that I know of. Indirectly, though, my most recent band would do "Nutbush City Limits," now and then. The first time it came up, it took a while to figure out what we were doing. I was just playing along, one chord blues riffs, till the refrain came up. Surprised me - not our usual thang. The only other story I've got is that I did see her, once, in the late 90s, with Cyndi Lauper opening. No mandolin in Tina's act - I'd have remembered, believe me - and I don't know if there was any in Cyndi's set, though she did play a little dulcimer, particularly on "Time After Time." But she did record her first album with two of the guys from The Hooters, and mandolin figured prominently in their music. OK, enough stretching.

In ‘72 or ‘73 I saw the Ike and Tina Turner Revue at the Mugen discoteque/nightclub in Tokyo’s Shinjuku district. It was a performance that’s stayed with me these 50 years since. R.I.P. my dear lady!

I wish that she has found her Nirvana (as I think she became a buddhist). With the tragic that overshaddowed her life I think Switzerland gave her peace. May she rest easy.

She opened for the Stones in the early 80’s. I had really high bleacher type seats. But even from all the way up there you couldn’t mistake the legs moving around on the stage.
