Default Number stamped underside of the sound-board

I recently had the opportunity to look inside my newly acquired 1937 Gibson F-7 using an endoscope (my luthier has one but they are available cheaply on Amazon).

I noticed a number of some sort stamped on the underside of the sound-board. 1261C. The serial number , by the way, is 94366.

Any ideas what this is about? I can't find any existing thread on the topic, but I guess not everybody gets to see deep inside of their mandolin!

I wonder if it is 261C and is its FON number and the 1 which has a bit of a gap before the 261 being superfluous? C is the code for 1937. Looking at Spann's Guide 261C is not shown but 1261 is an L-30.

Agree with NickR. Possibly instrument "1" of FON batch 261. Have usually seen the instrument number of the batch written in pencil. But a stamp wouldn't surprise me. Especially if it was a very small batch.

That would make sense. Thank you.
