    Default i don't think i've ever seen a thread here about McClanahan mando

    like to hear what any owners/past or present, have to say regarding the brand.

    years ago i read about Jonathan, his startup in making mandolins and restoration/rehab on some Gibson models. the videos i've watched have very nice tone quality on the instruments.

    i think i've only seen two for sale in the years i've been around mandos, and those sold quick.

    like to hear what owners say about build quality, playability, etc

    i have a possible trade opportunity on one and it is many states away and would be a trade without play sort of situation.

    thank you
    d

    Advanced search turns up 27 past discussions with McClanahan in the title. Google search has far more than that where he's mentioned, including those and more. Whether it's what you're looking for or not is another thing, but his instruments have been discussed here.

    thanks Scott
    yea, i worded that title totally wrong, did it in a rush earlier today hoping for some feedback i could view tonight. did not do a search earlier either but had planned to do it tonight. my title was a thought in my head at the moment and should have been worded as a question to current/past owners.

    i'll do that search now and gather info.

    thanks again

    I know that Wayne Benson has one and likes it. I think it's featured on a couple of his youtube videos.

    C.J. Lewandowski has been known to play one;
    He also has (Jerry Rosa's) Uncle Don Brown's Loar and the "Greek Loar" as well.....

    A lot of the big guys are playing Jonathons mandolins. I sure would if I could. A bit out of my reach for a retired guy.

    Hi everyone, new to mandolin and the forum. Jonathan is going to restore a 1919 Gibson F4 for me. It has had the top replaced and the scroll is really ugly. It has also been refinished but it is in great condition and has some beautiful wood. I will post some pics when I get it back from Jonathan. Below are some pics of it currently, it has been the discussion of being a fake F4 on here in the past. I purchased it on Reverb and did not pay full price, the seller accepted an offer. Kimberly
