    Default Case handle replacements?

Is there a source for teen/20s style case hadle replacements.

I know there have been some available in the past. Anything currently out there?

    Thanks

I assume you are talking about Gibson mandolin case handles?

Thanks Jim. I'm familiar with this great resource I have a memory that a forum member here was making replacement case handles in the old style. Just can't find the posts. Was a few years ago...

    Thanks.

Here’s the thread that mentions Mark Lynch. Maybe you can contact him. I believe he is no longer making them but I could be wrong. https://www.mandolincafe.com/forum/t...e-Case-handles

Give these folks a try. They have many styles so if you can't find exactly what you want they may have something that will work. R/

Probably not what you’re after, but for the functional/funky effect I like, I enjoy carving pre-curved pieces of driftwood to fit my hand and the attachment points on the case, and attaching them with pieces of bootlaces.

I also sometimes use the butt end of an old broken axe handle, especially for a heavier instrument (hammered dulcimer). Comfy and strong, just not usable for its original purpose.

My Vintage Cases website was hacked and is down temporarily. It's being rebuilt and should be back in the near future.
The Facebook Group on Vintage Cases is alive and well. https://www.facebook.com/groups/vint...nstrumentcases
Decent prewar style case handles have become almost impossible to find. Maybe I should not say "almost" but just "impossible." Look for an old violin case to use the handle as a donor.

Also, I have yet to find the proper ones but sometimes old sewing machine cases have the right kind or possibly old luggage.

Cody Shuler has been making exquisite hand built custom mandolin cases for a while now. You might inquire to see if he can help.

Many years ago , I got one from my local instrument repair guy .. 2 kinds; buckle on .. inline or at right angles to the handle.
dependant on your case fittings .. his supplier had a paper printed catalog, that is how long ago it was...

Try a saddle and harness repair shop. You may find an acceptable replacement that could be dyed to match the case.
