I finally got the motivation to set up my PC with a slower downer. I rely on WinAMP as my media player as it's got plug-ins for all the compressed formats (flac, shn, etc.) that you find stuff on the web.

I tried a few of the DSP plugins for slowing down on the WinAMP site and found PaceMaker to be the best. Some of the others were glitchy and particularly bad when you repositioned within a song. So far PaceMaker has been solid.

What's amazing to me is what a small difference in speed or pitch makes. 15% slower and all of a sudden I can follow a song where at 100% it's a blur to me.

Even more amazing is change the pitch and listening to vocals, three half-steps makes a huge difference; makes a tenor sound like baritone. Three steps up and a tenor sounds like an alto.
