Have a very nice charango, but looking for a source for better quality tuners - Gotoh or equiv.
Have been searching, am still searching (no results yet), but perhaps some of you have gone this route before.

Thanks again, Eric.
Those appear a bit stronger than the ones I have presently.
I also have a friend off to Buenos Aires shortly, so will give them a mission to seek info from builders there.

I will try to get some help and do so. My technology lags.
It's a contemporary style, very good grade street sold instrument. (Of course, most everything is sold that way in that part of the world.) Good tone, and nicely selected woods. Neck is well built and set. Frets are carefully done and the intonation is quite accurate. E 1st (MI Primeras) needs a bit of compensation at the bridge.
I think my plan is to play it as is awhile, study other charangos and their construction/sound, and then compensate the bridge, replace the nut, and replace the tuners.

i bought a beautifully made, hard wood bridge with bone inset from percy prieto here:

cost me $5.-something (+ postage from bolivia) if i recall right.
