    Have a very nice charango, but looking for a source for better quality tuners - Gotoh or equiv.
    Have been searching, am still searching (no results yet), but perhaps some of you have gone this route before.

    yes i found charango tuning machines last year. I'll dive into my records and repost with the info.

    Hi Rasa,

    #I too repaired a charango last year and used these as replacements: #TK_7929-002 $25.00 from allparts. #nice gold and pearloid buttons. #good luck. #post a pic of your fix when your done..charangos es mucha bonita.

    Those appear a bit stronger than the ones I have presently.
    I also have a friend off to Buenos Aires shortly, so will give them a mission to seek info from builders there.

    I will try to get some help and do so. My technology lags.
    It's a contemporary style, very good grade street sold instrument. (Of course, most everything is sold that way in that part of the world.) Good tone, and nicely selected woods. Neck is well built and set. Frets are carefully done and the intonation is quite accurate. E 1st (MI Primeras) needs a bit of compensation at the bridge.
    I think my plan is to play it as is awhile, study other charangos and their construction/sound, and then compensate the bridge, replace the nut, and replace the tuners.
