Just a shot-in-the-dark question. Have any of you guys ever thought of a mandolin arrangement of "The Devil Went Down to Georgia"?

..yea..just catch a D..and hang on
This tune sure sounds alot like a Vasser fiddle tune in Dminor. Lonesome Fiddle Blues.

cause it is. Vasser had it first. I read in a mag. article that C. Daniels called him up and asked if he'd heard his hit song "Devil went...." He told him yes it was a good song. I don't think he mentioned that it was just like his Lonesome fiddle blues. He just let it go.
cause his hat was so big you couldn't see it buried up under there.
I member seeing him at a concert in Gainsville, FL at the UF O'Connel center 'bout 1982. He wore a BIG cowboy hat. He subbed in with Bill Monroe didn't he in the 60's?
I read an interview with CD where he says he wears the hat mainly to protect his eyes... Apparently he has a condition that makes him sensitive to bright lights, so he always wears tinted lenses and a wide-brimmed hat so he can play on stage.

Don't know about that but I'm pretty sure he played bass on Dylan's Nashville Skyline album. If I remember correctly, there's a picture of him and some other musicians that played on that record on the back cover.Originally Posted by (bowfinger @ Feb. 05 2006, 16:31)

I wonder if Charlie could somewhat pull it off on the mando-blaster. I bet he could.
I wonder why I see so many fiddlers' fiddles that have a heavy coat of rosin both on the fingerboard and the top of the instrument. I assume it deals with a sort of rebel mentality - just leaving the #### on the instrument and pretending like the thing is just what you found one day and decided to mess around with for awhile. I don't get it. The mandolin equivalent would probably be a guy who spents a little time each day making new scratches into the finish of his instrument where the pick guard once was bolted into place - to add a little identity and character.
