Hiya. Judith here. I promised to try and post pics. Here's the mando taking shape, with all of the little details still to come. J

Yes, the cocobolo is quite hot. I am looking forward to more updates as they come.

VERY nice, Chris! My Alvarez Yairi guitar is cocobolo, and it sounds as good or better than any Martin, Taylor, or anything else I've ever played. That should be a great wood for an OM, I'd bet.

Oh, that looks good from here. I have an Eric Darnton OM (made locally in San Luis Obispo, CA.) and it has cocobolo sides and back. It has a very rich and deep tone, wonderful sustain. I could not be happier with looks or tone, yours looks sweet too! Stop by when you drive the coast :-)

Hey all - Chris just sent a couple of pics of the flying geese inlay that I requested. I think he did a great job - they definitely look like they are in flight. I get chills when I hear them when they begin arriving in the spring. There's also a close-up of the rosette he made. The last bit of waiting is the hardest...still at least a month to go. Judith

Here's another of geese. Love the way he balanced them between fret markers. J

And here's a close-up of the soundhole rosette. Mine is the one on top. You can see others in process below. Judith

That's lovely, Judith and Chris. Every time I see a new Arches photo I'm more pleased with my decision to have Chris build my F5. I'd love to hear one of the Arches octaves sometime.
    Congrats!

Wow, Judith, those inlays are awesome. #I was thinking of asking Chris to do some inlays on my octave, but wasn't sure, but after seeing those geese, I am tempted. #Really nice!!!

Hi Michael - the scale length is 20.75" - hopefully long enough to make the tone resonant and complex and short enough to enable me to play some melody, tho' my goal is to get off of melody a bit more. J

Hi Will. Chris is wise and says "delivery is always a little up in the air." I'm guessing sometime within the next month. Maybe he'll see this and add some good news! J

P.S. - Oh Otterly, of little faith. I've been trying to force my ears and brain to do what you already do so well - hear in harmony. We'll see - I mean hear. J

    Just teasing you, judith...
of course, with you playing harmony, I'll have to learn to play melody... that may be the steeper challenge!

FYI to the rest of you... Jude and I play together weekly (sometimes weakly ) and we've been joking about how we're going to have to start juggling the instruments so we both get to play everything.
