I just wanted to say that Brians '33 f-5 in the classifieds is one great mando. I have played it and two Loars side by side by side and it is fantastic. I wish I had the money, it would be mine. Thanks for the time I had with it Brian.

Pre-war Ferns seem to be quite a bit rarer than signed Loars. Going through the Mandolin Archive I counted around 90, give or take a couple. I've owned two, and both were fantastic instruments. With the price of Loars being what they are, Ferns seem almost "affordable", and to this point, haven't seen the same price appreciation on a percentage basis as Loars have. Wonder how much longer that will continue?
