Let the games begin. This is our unauthorized space to discuss the NCAA basketball tournament which will likely be won this year by the young Kansas Jayhawks, unless they're draw Bucknell in the first round... oh, that was last year. I hope the board admin doesn't see this thread or it'll be gone. Wait, wuh?...

Extra bracket points given for sly posts that combine some basketball and mandolin metaphor... or, whatever. Now as soon as my eyes are opened by this coffee I'm headed to check the outcomes of yesterday's games.

    Ha! #

The Four Rules of College Basketball:

    1. #Always favor UNC over any and every other team. #

    2. #Always favor a team based in North Carolina over one from anywhere else.

    3. #Always favor a State college over a pansified private college.

    4. #Always favor anyone who is playing [holds nose] Duke.

Yesterday had a couple of surprises that probably ruined me in the office pool, the biggest one being the Oklahoma loss. #I was also kinda hoping UNC-W would take GW....

    Anyway....GO HEELS!

Now, there's something we can totally agree about.

Heres a hint on an underated team: take Albany all the way...don't tell anyone you heard it from me...:-)

On a serious note (Bb..badoom chuck) How about Winthrop...how could you not have been pulling for them...despite the fact that it would have totally destroyed my brackets...

Well, I can see this is starting out real friendly so let me just say, good luck to Missouri! Oh, sorry.

I HAD Winthrop on mine - but for that last shot, Greg Marshall could've had his first NCAA victory in 6 attempts. We love him here in Rock Hill.

I was secretly rooting for Winthrop. I considered going to college there, many centuries ago, but ended up at Chapel Hill. I just couldn't bring myself to bet on them, though...and then there is Rule 3.

Some of us have nothing to be cocky about this year. <ggg>
Our only hope is the magic of the name on the jersey (and I'm no longer even hopeful of that with these kids!)

But, for the sake of tradition,

    GO CATS!

    kyblue,

I know how you feel, based on the late unpleasantness with the men's basketball program at UNC. #Even the smelly old Dookies had a rough year in '96 when K was out with his back. #The Wildcats have too great a basketball tradition to be down for long. Buck up - it's nothing like going 8-20 or missing the dance altogether!

I'm glad to see this thread is headed in the proper direction (i.e. south of Durham and west of Raleigh) It's amazing what Roy has done with these kids this quickly. Now, how about a Duke/Carolina rematch for the national championship!!!

    GO HEELS!!!

I'm pulling for the Razorbacks, but they have Bucknell today at 11:30ish. Might be a short tournament for the pigs. G.B.

Hmmm. #I usually identify pretty strongly with that perspective right after my favorite team loses and the season comes to its sudden, rude, and inevitable ending.

It happens to 63 of the 64 teams in the tournament, at some point. #It's a loooong time from April to November, too.

I went to a school where we knew the official name of the KU mascot was actually the Blankety-Blank Jayhawks, but seeing as Mizzou stunk this season, no harm in wishing our friends to the West good luck.

The other school I have a degree from is still in the tournament at least for a few hours. I won't bother wishing the Buckeyes well. If they lose to a #15 seed they deserve it!

That would be much better than any of that stupid color commentary from the announcers! Gosh, we miss Cawood Ledford here in KY!!

    Paula

p.s. Steve, I'm feeling you. The worst loss ever. Only one were I remember exactly where I was and distinctly how I felt! (like another memorable game, in a good way of course, the 40 something point comeback against LSU in the Pitino era. I was on the floor in front of the tv because I could not move due to back problems, so I didn't get up and turn the tv off, thank goodness!)
