If that is a new Gibson, it is the Gibson Grovers and you will have to get them from Gibson. Contact Big Joe, he can give you the information.

I have them on an F-5G I just bought, I wondered if these were the new Grovers. I've never seen them before.

Looks like they would match the James tailpiece nicely...

When did Gibson first start using these particular tuners?

I think Gibson started using them about a year ago, if memory serves. They retail for around $175 a set or so...

Thanks, that's what I thought. I like them but one of my buttons started "spinning" and I now need to replace it. I think I have a lead on some black ones.

    Apologies for the hijack

Loren, did you tighten the screw? It it my understanding that this is a necessary part of the maintanence when they have the screws.

    Ron,

I did, as tight as I dared for fear of cracking the button. It appears to be "stripped" on the inside.

Loren, would the black ones you referred to be ebony?

I just bought a nickle set from Big Joe from Gibson for $80...this included shipping. I think they are a great tuner.

Then I wonder why they price the gold F's at $200. Do they have MOP buttons or any other reason to justify the price?

Yes, Jim. The MOP buttons and the plating make it far more expensive. We are currently out of stock on the tuners but hope to have some in very soon. Thank you.

OK, to answer to the original question, are these tuners in fact the new Grovers?

Yes, they are Grovers (Gibsons). I do not have any buttons at the current time, Loren. They only make the plastic and pearl ones and they did not provide extras to us. I am trying to get some extras and will let you know as soon as I recieve some. Thank you.
