I just did a techno-ish track with my Fender 5-string equiped with Roland synth... It's noisy, sloppy, and long but I like it. Here's a link:
    Five Twenty Three

I looped my upright bass, recorded my wife asking for a drink, the dialtone and operator from Qwest, did the drum tracks with Hammerhead, pilfered environmental noises from various free sources, and put it all together with Tracktion. There is also a little acoustic mando (Bussman) on there, too.

It was mostly an experiment, and mostly successful as I now know what to do to make more of same.

Let me know what you think.

    Love to all,
    KS

Nicely done! I was anticipating something more along the lines of electronic music, rather than dancebeat + mandolin, but it sooooo nice to hear the mandolin in un-conventional settings. The acoustic intro reminded me of Jazz Mandolin Project jams I'm very fond of. Thanks for posting!

Thanks friends. I just uploaded a version I like better. I added a couple variations to the rhythm tracks just for fun, nothing major and nothing new on the mandolin.

I'll do some more and post them as I can. I'm enjoying the rediscovery of my emando lately.

    Best,
    Ken

So, how much of that was controlled by the emando?

None. The synth was simply recorded live from the analog output directly into my board alongside another channel used for the electric mando signal. It was all done on my laptop using Tracktion, and all tracks are .wav files. Here's what it looks like:

ken- i dig that! the intro with the traffic into the techno beat and the kinda experimental -jam/jazz mando licks- ot definitely has a hook- EXCELLENT!

Thanks, guys. It's fun to just sit in front of looped drum and bass tracks and see what happens. I'm taking the next ones more seriously and will clean up the mandolin some. I might actually do something that uses more than two chords, too!

Ken very cool! nice subtle reverb on the acoustic mando

I'm a big fan of mixing acoustic instruments with electronic sounds

Danny Barnes has done some cool thing in this regard. Check out the Bad Liver's CD Blood and Mood for example.

The mp3s on my band's site all feature a lot of emando, FWIW.
