Default Could all you wise old owls - young and old could enlighten me.

I have an Ibanez 700 AVS that I am learning on. I really like it but I did have to replace the tuning machines.

Can you tell me what the screws on the base of the gears do? Figured out the ones that hold the tuning machines on and the ones on the end of the tuning pegs but I am a little confused what those other pesky screws do. My tuning machines are silky smooth but a little too light to turn and I'm worried it might not stay in tune. thanks in advance!

BTW I have 2 sets of the Ibanez tuning machines let me know if you could use them.

I’m not sure if I understand what you’re asking, but if the tuners are working smooth, don’t mess with them.

They hold the round gears onto the post that the strings attach to. The post and the gear sandwich onto the flat plate; otherwise it would all fall apart. Only have to be tight enough to not drop out. They are not adjustments. Tuners will hold even if they feel a little loose. String tension keeps the contact tight.

I'm wise enough to ask for more info, like a picture.
