I'm excited to be at my first Grey Fox festival next month. Any other Cafe folks planning to be out that way? Also, any hints for a first-timer from you vets? Yes, I do already have my camping pass confirmed. :-)

i will be there again this year. can't wait.
5th year for me. If you go on the yahoo group greyfox discussion board you will find lot's of tips. Best one I can think of is bring lots and lots of shade and be prepared not to sleep.
I'll be there, year 15 for me. As far as tips, do everything in moderation, pace yourself other wise you'll be burned out like a day at the beach, ya know sun stroke.
Oh yeah, stretch out your calfs and limber up especially if your camping on "The Hill". Have a great time its a awesome festival!!

I have been to the fest since around 1980 and can't stress enough that the sun is relentless on the hill. Make sure you have a 100% UV protection tarp of some kind to provide shade as there is no where to hide. Rain gear is also a must and do bring your sense of humor too. You'll need it. Be patient and kind to the staff, this event is a real challenge and they do a fantastic job. See you there!-Joe
There's a big rock in the road...
This will be my second GF. I think I'll be camping in the "quiet" section this year. Fewer trips up the hill for an overwieght middle-ager with a heart condition!
All for One and One for All for One
any cafe'ers meeting up this year? Or is everybody in line already?
Hi fred, I'm going up Wed morning. I'll be camping in the same spot. Hopefully I'll see you by the first mando workshop!
Year the 4th for me! WhooHoo! This year, our campsite is going to be huge! A ton of peaople with me at al. I'm the 14 year old dude with a travelite (not that Bryce Milano cat). I'll be seen VERY often hanging out w/ Neil J. Dean, wherever he will be. See you all there. This year, I'll win the mandolin raffle!

Hope to see you again Jeff. I'll be the one with the sling on one arm and mando on the other.
I haven't been to Grey Fox since it was called Winterhawk, so maybe someone who knows the layout reasonably well could suggest a meeting time / place for cafe-ers?
Tom, I am going up wednesday morning too and I hope to jam with you before then. Not as much of a crew going this year so I will be looking for some jams (not hard to find). I will try and find you after settling in. Look fro me in the same spot, green volvo XC with PA plates.
ootee1, Last year we just caught one of the cafers shows and met him at the CD both afterward. Maybe as Tom suggested we all try and catch up at the first mando workshop...
I'll be there from Thursday on, camping at the top of the quiet area with a crowd of folks from DC. I'm 33 with glasses, brown hair, & a mando in a bright green case.
I guess you're not a "poor wayfaring stranger"!

Well, I'm certainly not a rich wayfaring stranger, that's for sure . Grey fox is about as exotic a vacation as I can afford these days. Not that there's anywhere else I'd rather go.
we cant wait!
Drink plenty of water; it's going to be a scorcher.
ok so jeans are out?
two friends of mine are up there (Andrea and Joyce) and Andrea called me this morning so i could hear them jamming with new found friends playing "Whiskey Before Breakfast"
Man I wish I had went!
