Nice lawnchair. Oh and the mando isn't bad either!

I think Fletcher has been using James tailpieces for awhile now. #That is one fine looking mandolin and I bet it sounds every bit as good as it looks!

    That headstock inlay is stunning!

    Bigwave,

Is there a trussrod cover? Or is Brock doing something new with his headstocks?

No trussrod cover. He uses a carbon-fiber rod now.

    Bigwave,

So that must really cut down on the wieght of the mandolin; and make the mandolin not so top heavy?

Pretty cool. Any other builders using carbonfiber?
    dunno

Other people are probably more qualified to speak up about other builders using carbon fiber rods, but it doesn't appear to be completely unknown. I did a little reading about it when I first got the mando (in early May) as I wasn't familiar with this at all. Fletch is definitely a believer. The rod goes from the neck dovetail through the headstock. He also says it improves sustain and volume. I don't really know but it does have really great sound. This is the first F-style mandolin that I've owned and the first one that I have really had a chance to play extensively so my experience is too limited to compare.

I too have been using the carbon fiber rod material for the last 8 years or so and have been very successful with it, many fine benefits with that kind of neck support, strength, lightweight and great sound projection
