I had the pleasure of hearing Michael Cleveland play mandolin and fiddle this weekend at a little festival in Michigan.
If you get an opportunity to hear him you won't be disappointed.

250, which festival?
Bill
I handed him my F-5 once, the first thing he did was check by feel the bridge height. I think he goes for a 'manly' action.
The Gilchrist Michael plays was the one I had built for me in 95. I believe you have played that one, Alan. It is a pretty darn good mandolin, but he won't sell it back. Oh well, I will just have to suffer with my Distressed Master Model. Michael is an incredible musician to say the least!
Have a Great Day!

Mando-lynn,
Marshall Bluegrass Festival in Marshall Michigan.
It was a small festival. I don't think there were more than 1000 people there.
I hadn't heard of Michael but after doing a search on line realized I'm probably the only one who hadn't heard of him.
He is an amazing talent.
Thanks 250
Sounds like a great time, good music/not too huge.
I am in Grand Rapids

250,
We were at the Marshall festival but spent most of the time picking by the camper. Did go up to the barn for the band scramble and to see Audie. No doubt, Michael is as wonderful on the mandolin as he is on fiddle. Get this, we saw him the next day for free in Niles, Mi as part of their Sunday Bluegrass in the park series.

Cedartop,
I might have heard you jamming when I walked around. We stayed at our camp site and picked too. We were the old guys playing swing and jazz near the entrance.
I had a great time and will go again next year. Maybe we'll bump into each other.
Did you catch the fiddle duet of Old Dangerfield on Saturday night?
Saw Michael Cleveland at the Grass Valley festival in Calif on Father's Day this year. I had seen him a couple times on fiddle with Dale Bradley's band but this was the first time I saw or heard him on mandolin. Amazing! One of the cleanest and clearest pickers I've ever heard, at any speed. Where has he been?
