Does anyone make/sell Lanyard style mando straps like the one that David Grisman uses?

It is my understaning that Dawg uses a slightly modified saxophone strap.

The Dawg answered this question back in May, 2003 when he was a co-mando guest of the week. He said "I use (on scroll model mandolins) a "Dawg Leash" (like a sax strap without the metal clip) custom made and designed for me by my friend Jay Ceballos. They were available years ago, but I'm not sure of the status now."
Good luck finding/building one.

A guitar strap made for classic/flamenco/mariachi style playing will do, it seems.
I shortened #a guitar one up and found it works with the scroll, too, #hooking it to itself.
made it up, originally #for my Leo wee travel mandolin . #hole, round small, #top not very thick.
under behind and back up to the hole..
personally I like #using a chair. # #
this just in, ! tried my shortened flamenco guitar strap, just hooked onto the lower wire of the Tonegard, and it works fine, F5/ A4 alike.

FYI, I have seen pictures of Jethro performing with a strap.
I would caution against using a classical guitar strap on an oval hole mandolin with a nice finish on it. I tried a D'Andrea classical strap, briefly, on my Old Wave oval and it did some damage to the finish where the hook went on the oval hole. Fortunately it's not that noticeable, but I wish I hadn't done it. Also, frankly, the strap wasn't that comfortable. I imagine they take some getting used to.
Randy Wood had some recently, braided leather. I don't know if it's just like Grisman's, but they are nicely made.
I actually had one of the original 'Dawg leash' straps, and after a while of playing, it hurt the back of my neck. I tossed it out and went back to a normal strap.
Yeah, I went and looked for it the other day when I saw this thread, but it's gone.
I know Jay Ceballos, he plays in a Django band up in Grass Valley / Nevada City area.
He plays a Lawrence Smart F5.
And I too saw Jethro play without a strap while standing.....several times.
Since I got a ToneGard I usually don't use a strap if I'm just playing around the house. I haven't had the nerve to try standing an playing without a strap at a gig. (I'm almost always seated at jams.)Originally Posted by (mandroid @ Aug. 02 2006, 15:06)

Here's a link to a previous thread which has contact information for you to buy one. Let us know how it works... I'd get one, but neither of my mandolins has a scroll.
Just ordered one of these:The Dawg Leash https://acousticdisc.com/product/the-dawg-leash/
