FYI: I found a great Irish session that lasted till 4:30am. There were some fine local musicins, many ex-pats.
the night before they had a bluegrass band from Colorado.
Excellent place with great atmosphere:

Aha, so you didn't mean Amsterdam, New York! We were in that other one last summer, but I didn't happen to spot the Irish influence.
While I'm here: we had a Dutch exchange student several years who was very amused to call home on a New Years Eve, on the way with us from Vermont to Syracuse, to tell his parents he was in Amsterdam and would they like to join us for some party time? -- Paul
He joyously felt himself idling, an unreflective mood in which water was water, sky was sky, breeze was breeze. He knew it couldn't last. -- Thomas McGuane, "Nothing but Blue Skies"
Hey, on Friday I drove throught Haarlem and didn't get mugged!

I'll be in Amsterdam on Tuesday through Friday morning. A jam would be great, but any recommendations for great music venues would be appreciated too.

On wednesday evening there's always a nice jam session in Mulligans, an Irish pub in the centre of the town:

On tuesday there's always live music in De Nieuwe Anita, a small living room kind of place, mostly singersongwriter kind of stuff, but great atmosphere & cheap drinks :

Friend of my plays with her band on thursday in a small theatre, no bluegrass or anything like it (but a lot of other strings) and with a great show with live animation:

That's it, a far as I know... Enjoy your stay!

Thank you very much. I'm getting in pretty late on Tuesday, but Mulligans sounds like a good plan for Wednesday night. I'm supposed to be meeting up with some people on Thursday night & they may be up for seeing The Leonids, but I'm not sure yet. I like what I saw/heard on the youtube link, so I'll keep that in mind.
