When playing the Aonzo Family Scales, do you allow the starting position of your left hand to slide up the neck with each scale? That is , does your left index finger take the root note of each scale, or do you work from fixed positions that change only a few time during the exercises?

    The first one.
You shift your hand for each new key on the G string and shift your hand for the next position on the E string. Does that make sense?

I understand what you mean in the first part... changing hand positions as you move up on the "G" string, Your index finger begins on the starting note of the particular scale, G#, A, A#, B, C, etc. up to the tenth fret. I don't understand what you mean by changing hand positions on the E string.
