This jam isn't too far from cookville. I bet you could learn a tune or two there. http://www.nashvilleoldtime.org/ The people there could point you in the right direction.
I wandered again to my home in the mountains....
Not sure about small jams but man what a jam 4th of july weekend down in Smithville. You gotta go to the Smithville Fiddlers Jamboree! Two days of non stop jammin' I'm usually down there til about 2 in the morning both nights. Mucho fun!

well i did go to smithville last year and it was pretty fun just hot lol but still enjoyed it.
i would like to go to nashville and try that out

thats a pretty good drive me and a friend took a ride to cleveland ohio it took us all day we went for a concert had our fun then when it was over we drove all the way back to tennessee and got here at 8am the longest drive i have ever made lol
I'm closer to Cincinnati, takes about 5.5 hours to make the drive and we stay down there for 3 nights. Course gotta stop in the showcase on the way back!
