I have a Breedlove Quartz OF mandolin and I am wondering about a strap for it. If anyone knows of any good straps let me know. I can even send a picture of the mandolin or you can go and look on www.breedloveguitars.com and look at what it looks like. Thank You.

Long Hollow Leather makes a very nice looking and comfortable strap without breaking the bank.

I just got a Long Hollow Softy and I'm very happy with it. I bought it through the classifieds here on the cafe.

I'll second Sully. He makes some great vintage straps.

There have been tons of 'strap' stuff on this board.
Just go to the search at the top of this page and plug in 'straps"

This is a subject which is hotly debated on this board and has many ramifications. Many believe that the use of animal products in the manufacture of straps represents a disrespect for non-human life. Others cite the political and economic
effect of buying a US-made rather than an imported strap. Some people opt for vintage or re-cycled materials. And then there's the issue of buying hand-made vs manufactured goods. So be careful, your choice will determine how you are judged by others. And don't forget to buy strap polish.

Loren, I'm currently using a couple of large helium balloons which makes my old straps obsolete.
Trouble is ... I can't get 'em to fit in my case.

three braided shoelaces - my standard mandolin strap. Works great, you can do it in either leather (rawhide) or poly. You'll likely need the 72 in length and should take you less than an hour and cost less than 7 bucks.

    Good luck.

I love my Dude. Since I am not going to buy a Dude mando, I bought a few Dude straps. The wife and I both love them.

a 'distressed' strap, using the piece of leather ..strop.. that barber used to keep his straight razor in its optimal shaving sharpness for their entire working life, would be nice and supple, needless to say, unique.

A few months ago I picked up a straight no frills length of leather bootlace and attached it to my F5 mandolin, just like Bill Monroe did. I made to hangmans nooses at both ends I looped one noose around the scroll on the body and the other noose around the end pin. The strap is very secure and I find it easy to hold. Its also incredibly cheap, so cheap I bought 2 bootlaces in the shop.

Thanks Soupy for your support. We are turning out some really cool straps no that are spiral on both sides and flat in the midle. WE have been getting darker hemp from our supplier. These have been really popular amongst the banjo folk. We are working hard to expand our product line with different designs. Thanks to all whom have supported us.

I happen to like the rounded pattern braid since it is very soft in any direction that it rolls.
I also like Latigo Lace cow leather. I would like to try our roo; how does it feel?
Leather has a nice non slip finish.
I suppose natural hemp also has these characteristics but I do not like the feel as well as leather.

We have been working on round braids but we do not have them perfected. I like a thick round braid as well. We are working on doing a round whip braid with an inner core. More to come from the oake strap.
