I would like to try a TG on one of those mandos with a side port. Would make it much easier to hear the differences. Wish I had one for my new varnished mando. Would have saved a lot of finish damage from the heat and humidity of being pressed against my body. I have also heard stories of them protecting mandos from accidental drops.

that pic made me think of something unrelated i have been meaning to pose - i notice that the tg doesn't really sit even across the back of my mandolin - same with the AB one. is that normal for it to slightly favor one side?

In my case it's caused from the bracket for the pick guard being in the way. Of course, I could just relocate it to the other side of the bracket, but, hey, all the cool pickers have 'em on crooked. Right, Scotti?

Besides, Tony doesn't advocate taking it off and putting it on too much. Takes some of the strength out of the clamp arm.

I take mine off when I put it into my Travelite case and put it on to pick. I have noticed nothing different about the tension of the fit, but I'm careful not to stress it.

Maybe we should change the name of this thread to "Post A Picture of Your Tone Gard".

    Here's my distressed "smiley-face" model...

Big Joe mentioned using TG after the varnish finish has cured. Did you imply that you should not use in on a varnished instrument in let's say the first 9 months? Thanks for the information.
