    I recently purchased a Tacoma M2 mando which I like a lot,
but I was warned by the previous owner that I would not be
able to put Jazzmando JM11 or Thomastik flatwound strings
on it because of the string hook placement. The M2 tailpiece
has the string hooks located next to the strap button on the
"side" of the mando. The additional length required to use
these hooks places the silk windings of the G and D strings
    on or across the nut.

I'd like to replace the tailpiece with one that has the string hooks on top.

    Any recommendations or "gotchas" welcomed

I use these strings and have a Weber tailpiece on my Mid Missouri. The windings are fine.

I would highly recommend you contact Bill at Bill James Tailpiece

Beautiful tailpieces, and very nice to work with.
