Not just a rumor, but a posting on Mike Marshall's website: an evening of duets May 10 in a little town just southeast of Burlington. #Mike Marshall and Hamilton de Holanda; Darol Anger and Scott Nygaard; Russ Barenberg and Bryan Sutton. #I am soooo there! #-- #Paul

Yup, just got my tickets yesterday. It is in an old converted barn that seats 200. I am psyched.

The options for making it more than duets sounds pretty exciting!
Haven't seen Barenberg out playing for awhile, since Hop, Skip & Wobble
days w/ Edgar Meyer & Jerry Douglas.

Ditto that. I haven't seen Barenberg since Hop, Skip & wobble either. I am definitely hoping for a surprise trio or more!

I live in Richmond, and I breaks my tiny little heart that I have had vacation planned for months on that day. At least I got to see Bryan Sutton w/ the honorable Mr. Thile when he was in town.

Keith, hello, I live just over the hill from you in Jericho, just up the hill from the high school. Hope our paths cross sometime, and sorry you have to miss this thing. I saw Thile at Higher Ground recently, too, and that was stupendous.

Hello to Larry as well, who I met at Rigelfest and who was kind enough to post a picture of my L&H here on the Cafe. -- Paul

I'm coming from Saratoga to see the show. Maybe if I wear my Cafe T shirt, some fellow posters can introduce themselves?

Cool! Wish I make it. Just saw him here in Texas at the Old Settlers Music Fest. He also led a mandolin workshop. Great picker and a nice guy.

    Hey Paul,

See you at the show tonight! I can't wait to see Hamilton and Mike.

And of course I remember you from the Rigelfest-Here's a pic of you picking Scott's Nugget!

It looks like the Mike & Ham set has been moved from first to last?

Paul, I live next to the Richmond Elementary School, just a few grades below you. I'll look out for you in the area, and I'd love to play sometime, though I am rather new to the mandolin.

    Enjoy the show tonight, everybody.

The show last night was GREAT (IMHO)!!!!
Mike Marshall and Hamilton DeHolanda were just jaw droppingly awesome.
I saw some folks were recording, but didn't talk to them.
Does anyone know if the recordings would be available anywhere?

There were a few brief trios when Darol and Scott were up. They had a guest on fiddle for a few and a guest on vocals for one tune. I thought the Bryon and Russ was really really good. Russ even picked two tunes on the mandolin. Hamilton and Mike very just incredibly fast, unbelieveable. There was a huge jam at the end with all six of them but like all big impromptu jams it was pretty ragged. It was crazy that Gordon Stone was the in-between set guy.

Oh and Jamie Masefield was there but he was only a emcee. I left after the first encore so maybe he got up and picked later?

    The show was amazing!

Even though I'm very familiar with Mike and Ham both together and solo, I was still blown away by their telepathic playing.

Hamilton goes for broke at all times. It took only seconds for them to blow the crowd away.

    Here's a clip from youtube.

I also bought Mike's new CD "Woodshop"-it's great too.

Telepathic is right, Larry, the exchange between Mike and Ham was just endlessly astonishing -- all that energy, all that seemingly effortless invention, all wrapped up in the totally joyous pleasure-vibe they were emitting. I haven't stopped grinning.

Congratulations to Howie for hanging on to his front seat when a mere rumor moved the rest of us back a ways -- I was envying you for the rest of the night. Next time . . .

It's true, having our legendary Gordon Stone do mere fill-in between sets is something I never expected to see, after at least 30 years of hero-worship on my part. Jamie Masefield did not get into the fray either. (Not criticizing the show, just responding to other remarks . . .)

Not that I'm into crowds, but I do wish for the promoters' sake that there had been more turnout. I can't remember a better show ever, plus I got to shake hands with Darol and Mike. -- Paul

I was crushed that I couldn't make it. I only live 20 minutes away in Burlington, but I couldn't afford the tickets for me and the girlfriend.
