Curious to see if anyone else had the same experience? I am using the Wegen 1mm pick. I have only used it about a month and liked it pretty well when I got it but it still had too much "string noise" to me. Sort of too much "crispness" if that makes sense. However, after playing it a while it seems to have "warmed up" and has a great, full, warm sound now.

Has anyone else noticed this? Does it do better after it's been played a while?

By the way, I love the sound of the Wegen on my HD-28 also.

Sorry I got in the wrong area.

I got the Wegen 1mm pick, I think. It's black and has the rough feel on both sides.

    I think it's 1mm

The M100 is it. I remember now since you said that. There was a m150 and a m100. I ordered the m100

I love the M-150 for mando. It sounds as good as it gets to my ear. I prefer the Wegen Bluegrass picks for guitar.

I bought the TF-140 and really like it. When I first started using it I also noticed the extra brightness. After using it for the last 9 months it has mellowed very well. Chris Thile uses one of the TF models. On Woodsong's website (http://www.woodsongs.com/showlist.asp show number 416) Michael Jonathan asks him about his pick. I won't spoil it for you, it is a good show to watch.

I like that crsipness for lead stuff. It can make an okay mandolin sound good. On my new mandolin, I have been using a different pick, but may chose the wegen because it produces a little better crispness and I like the pick shape.

i use the wegen m150 for mandolin. haven't noticed any extraneous noise, except for me wacking the pickguard sometimes. it's a great pick and i was surprised to like something that thick. when i've played for a long time, and start to get tired, i might switch to another wegen--i think it's for guitar; it's triangular with holes for grip. the tip is much more pointy so i can back off a bit.

wegen is great on acoustic guitar too. firm and dark sound.
