I vaguely remember there was an article in either Mandolin Magazine or Mandolin Quarterly quite a few years ago about a company that made custom covers to put over hardshell instrument cases. I'm looking for this company now. I think the name was something like Bulldog or had the word Dog in the name. Does anyone remember the name of this company or the issue in which the article appeared? These cases provided a certain amount of protection against temperature changes and scuffing. Thanks, Chaim.

Smalldog Case Covers is owned by Colorado.

Colorado case company makes thier brand of case cover, but the Small Dog cover (now a Colorado case product) is a better case cover for the money.

Had Colorado Case make a custom cover for my F4 case a few years ago from a tracing they did at Winfield, came out great I just wish I had opted for the 'D' rings so I could attach a strap.

A few people here, myself included, use a triple tennis racket case as a cover for a shaped mandolin case. It fits really well, it protects just as well, it disguises your mandolin as something that is less of a theft target and it costs about 1/5 of what a Small Dog or Colorado Case cover costs. I have a custom Colorado for one mandolin that cost me $200 and a tennis case for another that cost me $40. They both do about an equal job. Now if you have rectangular case, disregard.

Immediately after receiving my first decent mandolin, I ordered a case cover from Colorado Case. The neat thing is that they will add more pockets and will arrange straps to your needs. They will provide whatever you desire; colors, dimensions, etc., and at a reasonable cost.

I got the same deal from them. I asked that they orient the velcro-closure pocket 90 degrees around, they did it. Also asked for pull straps on each eand, did that too. Then I spilled a load of ketchup on it

    It held up very well.
