    I was thumbing through a book full of sheet music at home and I found a chord that was a "Bb+".

    Would that be the same as a Bbsus?

    Thank you,

    Augmented, which means raise the 5th a half step.Take a major triad 135 and make it 13#5 by raising the 5th.

    A= 2245 (A E C# A)
    A+= 2345 (A F C# A)

    Awe heck I'm already working with the augmented chords. I've just never seen that "+" used before as an augmented symbol.

    The sheet music that I've seen showed an augmented cord as "A aug" or "Bb aug".

    Well that was easy

    Thank you so much John

    See, and all this time when I saw an "A+", I thought it meant play passage well enough to get a scholarship to Berklee... Learn something new around here every day!

    Ted -- If that's what you thought when you read "A+," what did you think when you read "D-" (standard jazz-fake-book notation for D minor)? Or even "F-"?
