    Thanks Red.
That's me with #102 that I posted yesterday.

If you look closely, you'll notice the inlays in the slots of the scooped fingerboard extension. It's the first time Wayne's done that on one of his mandos.

The fingerboard is slightly radiused and the nut width is 1 3/16".

I look like I'm really concentrating on that chord!

Sorry about the double post, Phil. It was nice to catch with you last Friday. You have a beautiful mandolin that rings like a bell.

sachmo: the binding is a w/b/w top binding. The color looks sort of vintage I think because of the tinting of the varnish that Wayne uses. We discussed side binding (like Monroe's) but I preferred top.

Red: No problem. Thanks for the new picture. I never take any of myself.
My fingers are sore. I haven't been able to put the mando down since Friday.

    Merry Christmas!

Phil, I think you will like the Henderson as it matures. I have #18 and it is a joy to play. Merry Christmas. Doug in Vermont

    Phil,
great pics. I started another topic so hopefully we will get to see more pictures of other Henderson Mandolins. I played one of his mandolins at a fiddlers convention in Elk Creek Va. a long time ago and the sound has haunted me ever since.

    Is #102 laquer or varnish?

    Ken,

Just a quick answer to your question of laquer or varnish.

Wayne says it's a catalized varnish, not laquer. Whatever that means. It's sprayed on after the stain and something else (sealer or something) are put on.

I put on some TI strings today (just 'cause) and I can't stop playing 'Sweet Georgia Brown' for some reason.
