I wish I could. Sadly, my old Gibson was built before the technology existed, and only goes to 10.

Someone once told me I was making much too big of a thing out of it.

Making a big thing out of it would have been a good idea.

An anniversary so important in the history of mandolin it has few equals, so we celebrate today.

March 2, 1984 - Mockumentary This is Spinal Tap released featuring the hilarious mandolin-themed Stonehenge scene.

Remember, D minor is the saddest of all keys.

I'm not sure how I have missed this over all these years, but this is epic. Might be time to rewatch the whole movie.
All my life I wanted to be somebody, now I realize I should have been more specific.

I cannot believe that I have never seen the movie 'This is Spinal Tap.' I love the dwarfs, dwarfing the little 18" prop!

Loved the movie. As a silly highlight of youth - went to see them in concert. Of the three sections available - "hear the band", "see the band", "smell the band", we played it safe and sat in see the band.

Really was a fine show. And while I know the Folksmen often were the opening act, this time it was three actors who played during the intermission. All acoustic. And quite good. Unfortunately don't remember who played mandolin that night.

Oh, and Stonehenge was so big only one section could fit in the back of the stage. Guess someone wrote 120' instead.

Bassist Leland Sklar posted this on his YouTube channel yesterday. He is currently on tour with Lyle Lovett's acoustic group and they are at a venue in Florida. Another fun fact is Leland's close friend and rhythm section partner Russ Kunkel, one of the top LA session drummers, played the part of drummer Stumpy Joe in the move, one of the spontaneous combustees.

Hi, Everyone. It sounds like most of you haven't heard, but they're doing a Spinal Tap sequel, to be released on the 40th anniversary of the original movie. This is not a prank; it's the real thing.

I hope it's better than most sequels. These guys are still very, very funny and at the top of their games.

There is nothing like seeing This is Spinal Tap for the first time, before any explanations, without any expectations. There was considerable "wait, what?" before I figured out, and was sure, that it was a comedy.
