Hey all - I'm looking to try some different strings on my Big Muddy M-2 - does anyone playing these have a suggestion for what to use - this will be my first string change. I'm looking for a warmer but multi-purpose sound if that makes sense. I'm no at a point where I'd need to cut through a band yet. Thanks for your help!

I enjoy the sound of Jazzmando strings on my Big Muddy M-4.

Yeah, I love tose JM11s also. I don't have a Big Muddy, but I had them on my oval A and now I have them on my F. They sound good and play so easy.

Well I went off the deep end today and bought some Thomastik-Infeld strings for my M-4 cause I love her so much. Haven't put them on yet, but I'll post when I do. I must be nuts $38.

If you want a change these sure will do that. So far I wish I would bought the Stark/heavy gauge instead of medium. Hope they tighten up over night, they really require a significantly lighter touch than I currently have, much quieter, but makes some VERY musical tones. Absolutely not for bluegrass unless solo. Don't know if I'd call them multipurpose though. Definitely strings of nuance. Makes my M-4 sound highend, almost snooty, I kinda like my new uptown girl. Later.

My comments are the same as Eric F's above. Same model, same strings, same enthusiasm.
