The February '08 Mel Bay Mandolin Sessions has an interview with Andy Poe. Link here. They ask him how he got into mandolin building and about the building process. An interesting read. He such a great and humble guy. I had no idea he was building ukes now.

I agree. My Poe mandolin has to make the rounds everywhere I take it and hasn't gotten a negative comment yet. Andy is a great guy to have make a mandolin for you.

I had heard from Andy that this interview was going to happen and enjoyed finally reading it. My Poe #18 mandola should be ready soon and it is going to be stunning from what I've seen so far. He is remarkably skilled.

    Wilson,
That's cool. I'd love to see the pics and hear sound clips. Please post after it arrives.

I'll give it a try when the instrument arrives, perhaps next month.

I seriously considering a Poe for my next mandolin purchase.

Hey, that's my F2 right smack in the middle of those photos!
I should have in a month. Can't wait.

Chuck, you must be getting excited! Looks like another great mandolin from Andy! Andy said he is going to list prices for his Ukes next month, the dark one he is keeping for himself. Don't know what he will be asking yet.

Hey Chuck--I'd bet a bunch you'll love it. I just found out from Andy that what I thought would be my Poe #18 has been re-designated "Poe Mandola #1." He said that when he had finished sanding and staining #s 18, 19 and 20, pictured above, he will wet sand and get ready to french polish the mandola. Which number did Andy assign to your F2?

    Hi,
    If I remember correctly, I'm number 20.
I'm glad he's building ukes. I've been playing my soprano Kamaka a lot recently and thinking that a tenor or concert may be in my future somewhere along the line...
