    Unhappy

I have been looking for an A style mandolin Case Cover so I can wear it like a backpack.
Anyone seen anything like that? I am thinking of making it if I can't find one.
    Thanks.

many have found triple tennis racket bags to do the job, and cheaper than the dedicated covers, too.

Add: my favorite case cover is my roll top waterproof day pack.
like a whitewater river bag , but with an eliptical bottom, and backpack straps. my original 20's a case fits in there nicely.
[more abundantly padded cases are a bit too wide]

larger ones are called Portage pack bags , for canoe travel where one would be wearing the pack and carrying the canoe, between parts of the voyage/trip between lakes and over rapids.

I'd recommend the Prince elements six pack so that you have a little room for some extra's like stand etc

I believe the Bobelock case has optional backback straps...

Also the Boulder Alpine brand padded gig bag has backpack straps: http://www.giannaviolins.com/esmando/case/CaseBoulder.html

My Travelite case has backpack style straps. And it's a darn good care for around $60.00. You need to check tem out. Very lightweight too.

I got a Small Dog case cover from Janet Davis Music for a Christmas present. Case has some additional padding and a compartment for music & accessories on the outside. Selling price about $115. It works for me.

It does not have backpack type straps, guess I should should have paid more attention to original post.

    Of course Mention ing DIY
if it's the back pack strap you need then sew a belt to go around the neck of the case , add another around the big part of the case.
    nylon webbing is good stuff..

needle and thread pass thru easily. heat the cut end with a match so it will not fray.

a sling under the bottom so the case wont slip out.

and join the 2 girth belts with the back pack straps.
    more webbing

whole Kit can be assembled from materials at the Fabric shop.

you don't have to work in a sweat shop to sew stuff together .

I use a Colorado Case. It fits over the shoulder or as a backpack. It has a large pocket. Check there website.

Try backaxe.com, they sell the smaller version that is made to turn your case into one that can be used as a back pack style case. First Quality used to sell them in their catalog.

I have the Access brand soft case that has an over the shoulder carry strap, very nice for around $35. Accessbagsandcases.com

I think the tennis bag is a cool idea.

In my case it would not fool anyone - my body type would never be confused for the body of tennis player, a tennis watcher maybe. If I was walking through the airport with a tennis bag folks would think I am carrying it for someone. Or that I stole it.

Or a perceptive individual who plays mandolin might notice and say, "can I see your mandolin, I know you don't play tennis."

A talent for trivializin' the momentous and complicatin' the obvious.

This one looks like it gives great protection. Anyone used one? It's got some good reviews.

I need to get a mando backpack that also protects. Not a soft gig bag. I bought a Boulder Alpine Bag. Great bag with great pockets. But it is soft.

I'm looking for a backpack that is light and going to protect my new Collings MT. (Whenever I get it....) #

Oh and I thought the pics on the Backaxe and Access Bag are weak. If I could see better pics, maybe I'd check it out.

But this is the one I'm staring down..... for my new MT. (Oh did I say that already....)

If you are thinking of the oft mentioned tennis bag approach make sure that you take your case along to try it for size.

I couldn't find one that fitted a TKL F5 case. It was a near thing, so an A style case might work. (Maybe Aussie tennis bags are under-size?)

The point is, try the bag for size

At least a couple of people on the Cafe' have reported good luck with the Dunlop Bullet, linked below. They also make a six racket model with thermal protection, which might be an option.
